Can you give an explanation for how often your skin was exposed or bare? What type of environment do you work in? How regularly do you consider yourself exposed to others that can potentially transfer infectious diseases? How often do you go outdoors, and what would be the time range? What do you consider your health condition? Do you have allergies or “colds” on a regular basis? Upon return from travel, were immediate signs of symptoms present? if so, can you describe them? Who were the first people that you came in contact after returning from travel? Did any person that you came in contact with contract symptoms as well? What was the last location you went to before symptoms were present? If you continued working while ill, can you give the location of occupation? What was your reasoning for continuing to work? Were you immediately treated for symptoms, and if so, can you explain what was done? What antibiotics were used to combat the symptoms? How long have you been using them, and has your health state improved? |
Information Obtained After Further Questioning
Alan Calhoun He worked in a farm environment. During harvest season, he began getting many bug bites. In November, he became ill. Chills and a fever were the symptoms. His blood pressure decreased. He was exposed to many insects while out in the fields. Bethany Copeland She is an elderly woman who loves being in her garden, and she refused using insecticides and pesticides. She had general maladies, and her immune system was very weak. She developed pneumonia. She had not traveled outside of the U.S. recently, but her condition continued to worsen. Gerald Klein After asking further questions, it was determined that the patient has not traveled outside of the U.S. recently. However, he and his wife have taken South American cruise tours (may 10-30 of last year), and a trip to Italy from July 1-15. He enjoys hiking and being in the forest to see and observe birds. He became sick after return of the cruise, and displayed similar symptoms of his wife. Gloria Klein After asking further questions, it was determined that the patient has not traveled outside of the U.S. in the past 2 years However, he and his wife have taken South American cruise tours (may 10-30 of last year), and a trip to Italy from July 1-15. She caught a mild case of Noro virus during the trip to Italy. Also, they traveled to Puget Sound in Washington state for a family trip. Hayes Nicholson He is a preschool teacher for a private school in California. Also, he enjoys hiking around Pismo Lake to observe Monarch butterflies. He took a 3-month trip to Mexico, and returned back to teaching in the fall. The reason for travel was tourism. He became ill upon return. Jimmy Former chronic abuser of drugs. He had an enlarged heart, cirrhosis of the liver, and damaged kidneys. He was a homeless individual. Jimmy has not traveled outside of the U.S. in the past 2 years, and the status of the patient having a blood transfusion or organ transplant within the last 12 months is unknown. Kathryn Klein After asking further questions, her medical history was deemed suffice. No major alterations to her health. There were no signs of any family history of illness. She recently traveled to Puget Sound from September 25-October 5 last year, and then to Handan, Hebei China from August 15-September 15 last year. She had had unknown agent in her blood, which did not respond well to antibiotics. Megan Poole She enjoyed the outdoors, and was a college student in the San Luis Obispo area. She went on many hiking trails. She began a project and used all natural materials, before she began ill. She has not traveled outside of the U.S. in the past 2 years Rachel Brady As a general manager she traveled to Australia for business. Her reason for travel was for business. While there, she was bitten by a bug, but was reassured that it was harmless. Upon return, she began developing insomnia, which she has never experienced before. Royce Wilcox Responsible for finding the deceased Jimmy. Upon finding the body, he began to become dizzy, and was eventually found unconscious in his bed by a coworker. He had not traveled outside of the U.S. in the past 2 years, and it was determined that he had an unknown pathogen in his blood. Ronnie Klein His job had cause a decline in health over the past couple of years. He would develop many colds. He and his family went to Washington state from September 25 – October 5 of last year. He enjoys the nature, and develops a virus that didn’t go away. His symptoms went away, but upon, return from the trip, his symptoms came back. He slipped into a coma, and blood displayed an unknown pathogen. |
